This project involved the widening of Kwinana Freeway, providing an additional lane from Russell Road to Berrigan Drive and two additional lanes from Berrigan Drive to Farrington Road.

The project also included two new sections of Principal Shared Path (PSP) for pedestrians and cyclists, with a 3 kilometre section from Russell Road to Beeliar Drive and 4 kilometres of path from Kentucky Court in Cockburn through to Farrington Road.

The works are part of an overall plan to transform the Mitchell and Kwinana freeways to support population growth and economic development.

Benefits

  • Allow for an extra 1,800 vehicles per hour on the Kwinana Freeway
  • Enable traffic to move more effectively through this critical section of the transport network
  • Provide better access to local services such as Fiona Stanley and St John of God Hospitals
  • Support population growth and economic development
