Reshaping WA Report: Pier Street Apartment Development and Reid Highway Interchanges
The build to rent Pier Street Apartment Development project now stands at 29 storeys. The Reid Highway Interchanges project is ramping up.
Destination WA: Batavia Coast Marina and Geraldton Cycle Network
The Destination WA team explore upgrades around Geraldton. A new floating jetty and 34 extra boat pens were recently completed as part of the Batavia Coast Marina project. The Geraldton Cycling Network Expansion project will connect the region’s northern and southern suburbs.
Destination WA: Wadandi Track Expansion
The Destination WA team visit the Wilman Wadandi Highway and Wadandi Track Expansion. The Wadandi Track is set to extend to almost 110 kilometres by 2028. When complete, it will become one of the longest rail trails in Australia.
Destination WA: Boorloo Bridge
Destination WA visits Boorloo Bridge. Since opening in December 2024, the bridge has marked a new and safer way for people to walk, wheel and ride between Victoria Park and East Perth via Matagarup (Heirisson Island), across the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River).
Reshaping WA Report: METRONET New Midland Station and Mandurah Estuary Bridge
It’s all systems go at the METRONET New Midland Station. The duplicated Mandurah Estuary Bridge is now open to westbound traffic.
Reshaping WA Report: Fremantle Traffic Bridge and Reid Highway Interchanges
From 1 February 2026, the Fremantle Traffic Bridge will close for construction of the new river crossing. Works are progressing on the Reid Highway Interchanges project.
Reshaping WA Report: New Women and Babies Hospital and Fremantle Traffic Bridge
Construction is underway on the New Women and Babies Hospital located in the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct. Progress is ramping up on the new Fremantle Traffic Bridge. The bridge will close from February 2026 for around twelve months.
Reshaping WA Report: New Midland Station and Stephenson Avenue Extension
Works on the METRONET New Midland Station continue, with a 12-stand bus interchange set to open in the coming months. The Stephenson Avenue Extension is also making good progress.
Reshaping WA Report: Armadale Line Transformation and Mandurah Estuary Bridge
Passenger services on the Armadale Line, including the new Byford Rail Extension, will commence from Monday 13 October. The Mandurah Estuary Bridge duplication project is on track to open early 2026.
Reshaping WA Report: Byford Rail Extension and Inner Armadale Line
Track for the METRONET Byford Rail Extension is fully in place and construction is advancing at both Armadale and Byford stations. Passenger services between Perth and Cannington stations have recommenced on the Inner Armadale Line.
Reshaping WA Report: Belmont Park Redevelopment and Swan River Crossings
Significant road improvements have been made as part of the Belmont Park Redevelopment Project. Construction of the new Fremantle Traffic Bridge is progressing, with piling works completed.
Reshaping WA Report: Thornlie-Cockburn Line and Mandurah Estuary Bridge
Passenger services on the METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Line will commence Monday, June 9. Construction continues on duplication of the Mandurah Estuary Bridge.

Perth's iconic Boorloo Bridge and the Smart Freeway Mitchell southbound are both now open!
Reshaping WA Report: Ellenbrook Line and Spoilbank Marina (December update)
The new METRONET Ellenbrook Line is now open, with rail services in full operation. In Port Hedland, the much-anticipated Spoilbank Marina has opened to the local community.
Reshaping WA Report: Smart Freeway Mitchell southbound and Wilman Wadandi Highway (November 2024 Update)
Two major infrastructure road projects are set to open next month. Smart Freeway Mitchell southbound will open to traffic from late-December, and Wilman Wadandi Highway is due to open Monday, December 16.
Reshaping WA Report: Morley-Ellenbrook Line (October 2024 Update)
The METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Line officially opens Sunday December 8, with formal passenger services commencing Monday 9 December. The Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal project has reached a major milestone.

The METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Line is tracking along well, with Ballajura Station recently completed. It’s the second of five new stations being delivered along the Morley-Ellenbrook Line, with works continuing at Whiteman Park, Noranda and Morley stations.
Gibb River Road - Destination WA
The team at Destination WA explore the iconic Gibb River Road. As part of ongoing safety improvements, Main Roads WA are upgrading several sections.
Hedland Road and Rail Safety Improvements - Destination WA
The Destination WA team explore the safety improvements in the Pilbara. The upgrades will improve road safety and provide increased travel amenity for the 6,000 vehicles per day that cross the three rail lines.
Spoilbank Marina - Destination WA
The team from Destination WA recently explored the Spoilbank Marina project. The delivery of this project will create a vibrant new amenity for the Hedland community and visitors to enjoy.
Reshaping WA Report: Yanchep Rail Extension (June 2024 Update)
The METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension is nearing completion. Trains commence passenger services on the new line from Monday 15 July. Construction of the Causeway Pedestrian and Cyclist Bridges is progressing well, with bridge modules in place connecting McCallum Park and Heirisson Island.
Reshaping WA Report: May 2024 Update
The METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project is progressing well. The project includes Perth’s first ‘elevated rail’, designed to improve public transport and transform our south-eastern suburbs. The Albany Ring Road in our Great Southern region is now open to traffic, thanks to Main Roads WA.
Reshaping WA Report: C-series train and New Bayswater Station
The first C-series train is now running on the Joondalup and Mandurah Lines. The New Bayswater Station is now operating.
Fitzroy River Bridge - Destination WA
The team from Destination WA recently explored the Kimberley, taking a closer look at the new Fitzroy River Bridge. Major works undertaken as part of the Kimberley Flood Response, following ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie in the summer of 2022-2023, saw the old bridge replaced with a stronger and longer structure.

Works continue as part of WA’s vital Regional Road Safety Program. Construction on the Causeway Pedestrian and Cyclist Bridges are progressing well.
