This project involves extending Mitchell Freeway 5.6 kilometres from Hester Avenue to Romeo Road in Alkimos.

Key features of the project include a new interchange at Lukin Drive, a rail tunnel for the existing rail line at Butler Station, connecting Romeo Road from Wanneroo Road to Marmion Avenue as well as a new path for pedestrians and cyclists.

The extension will service the rapidly growing north-western suburbs of Butler, Yanchep, Alkimos and Eglinton and areas to the east including Nowergup.

Benefits

  • Alleviate pressure on the local road network
  • Reduced travel times
  • Improved road safety and connectivity for those living and working in the northern suburbs.
  • Caters for the growing population in Perth's north-west
