Stage 1 of the Bussell Highway duplication was completed in December 2021 and included the construction of a 5 kilometre section of road between Capel Bypass and Hutton Road, as well as reconstruction of a part of the existing carriageway, resulting in two lanes in each direction.

Stage 2 will see construction of a further 12 kilometre section between Hutton Road and Busselton, which will include the construction of three bridges over the Abba, Sabina and Ludlow rivers, to provide dedicated north and southbound carriageways at each location.

Construction on Stage 2 is anticipated to start mid-2022.
