The biggest road project ever delivered in Western Australia's South West, Wilman Wadandi Highway, previously known as the Bunbury Outer Ring Road, will officially open to traffic on Monday December 16.

The upgrade will provide improved access to Bunbury-Geographe and the wider south west region for local traffic and freight efficiency.

Construction of a 27 kilometre, four-lane road is underway, linking Forrest Highway to Bussell Highway and providing a key transport corridor.

The Wilman Wadandi Highway will also feature 17 kilometres of path network including a principal shared path (PSP) to significantly enhance cycling infrastructure in the South West region.

Discovery Road was completed in April 2024, the first local road to open on the project. At approximately 5.7 kilometres, Discovery Road is one of the longest local roads along the project alignment. It forms part of the final BORR network and will provide an alternative north-south connection in Waterloo.

Earthworks and pavement works continue in all areas of the project, with most of activities completed in the northern sections. Final stages of pavement construction are in preparation ahead of the highway opening in late-2024.

The Northern Section from Forrest Highway to Boyanup Picton Road will provide better access for Bunbury CBD and Ferguson Valley.

The Southern Section from South Western Highway to Bussell Highway will include a ‘Y’ interchanges at Bussell Highway and Centenary Road, and a connection to Jules Road.
