Detour options

  • Utility relocations between Wilkinson Street and Coode Street

New water infrastructure will be installed underneath High Street eastbound, between Wilkinson Street and Coode Street via directional drilling. Pits will be dug at locations along the road and verge. Pits will be fenced when works are not taking place.

To safely work in this area, the left-lane on High Street eastbound will be closed from Wilkinson Street to Coode Street between Tuesday 13 October and Tuesday 3 November 2020.

Please note these are projected timeframes and are subject to change due to weather and/or other factors. Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time as delays may occur.

  • Detours during closure of Wilkinson Street between High Street and Newspaper Lane

The intersection of Wilkinson Street and High Street will also be closed between Tuesday 13 October and Tuesday 3 November 2020, however will re-open each weekend from Friday 5pm to 7am Monday.

Please note these are projected timeframes and are subject to change due to weather and/or other factors. Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time as delays may occur.

  • Horrie Long Reserve - Drainage infiltration works commencing in mid-October

The storm water drainage network is being upgraded as part of the High Street Upgrade project.

To safely install the new drainage, access to the cricket pitch and the centre of park will be closed from mid-October. Fencing will be installed progressively, commencing during the week of 12 October 2020.

The works are expected to take approximately three to four months to complete.

Signage has been  posted at the park with information about access changes and the works.

  • Drainage installation works on Stirling Highway

The stormwater drainage system is being relocated as part of the High Street Upgrade project. New drainage will be installed beneath Stirling Highway in stages, requiring some after-hours works.

To minimise disruption to high volume weekday traffic, drainage will be installed over the weekends of 6-8 November and 13-15 November. Night works will occur between 7pm and 7am across these weekends, with daytime work for the remainder of the weekend.

To install the drainage, a temporary realignment of Stirling Highway southbound is required, marginally to the east of its current location.

The southbound lane on Stirling Highway will be widened near Forrest Street to enable this realignment.

Traffic management will be in place during these works, speeds will be reduced to 40 km/h. Please proceed with caution at all times, and adhere to the speed limit and directional signage.
