Upgrading of High Street between Carrington Street and Stirling Highway is underway and will improve safety and reduce congestion along High Street.

Works include the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of High Street and Stirling Highway and a wide median on High Street to separate traffic lanes.

New underpasses are under construction at the junctions of Forrest Street and Stirling Highway, and Montreal Street and High Street. Featuring artworks from two prominent local Noongar artists – the Peter Farmer Group and Lance Chadd, the large-scale murals tell traditional stories of the area.

This project hopes to address road safety issues and improve the general flow of traffic for everyone travelling in and out of Fremantle.

Benefits

  • Improved road safety and efficiency
  • Reduced traffic congestion and travel times along High Street
  • Offers a more efficient route for locals and visitors travelling to and from Fremantle
