The Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront project is creating new shoreline destinations and infrastructure to stimulate thriving marine and tourism industries.

Stage 2 includes the redevelopment of the Jetty Road causeway, which was recently completed, and upgrades to the Casuarina Drive foreshore.

Construction along the Jetty Road causeway included the refurbishment of the causeway walls, establishment of a multi-purpose building with public toilets, construction of shared paths, landscaping and upgrades to services (electrical, fire and potable water, sewerage, NBN and CCTV). There has also been an increase in parking with an additional 164 bays.

Work on the Casuarina Drive foreshore began in November 2020 and includes enhanced public amenities such as picnic areas, BBQ facilities and a play space; creation of a waterfront promenade; and an upgraded road, services and increased parking. The first phase of these works is expected to be delivered by mid 2021.

In October 2020, the Western Australian Government announced a $78.1 million commitment towards Stage 3 of Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront.  Subject to environmental approvals and an approved business case, Stage 3 is expected to deliver new breakwaters at Casuarina Boat Harbour and Koombana Bay, as well as land-side marine infrastructure.

The Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront project involves the South West Development Commission, in partnership with the Department of Transport, DevelopmentWA and the City of Bunbury
