Tanami Road is 1,013 kilometres long, linking Alice Springs in the Northern Territory to the Great Northern Highway, near Halls Creek, in Western Australia.

The 309km section in WA is unsealed (except for a small section near Sturt Creek). Upgrades will include reforming the road formation, existing roadside drainage and construction of gravel sheeting.
