The 313km section in WA is unsealed (except for a small section near Sturt Creek). Upgrades will include reforming the road formation, existing roadside drainage and construction of gravel sheeting.

Design and development activities are progressing on the first 114 km and construction of the first 20km section is expected to begin in 2023.
