Construction is underway on the New Brooking Channel Bridge and pedestrian pathway.
The replacement bridge will add to the region’s supply chain resilience, enhance road safety, and provide ongoing employment opportunities for the Fitzroy Valley region.
The new 127-metre bridge will have two 3.5m lanes and 1.2m shoulders, providing an improved structure capable of supporting large loads, including road trains and heavy goods vehicles.
Major works began in mid-2024, including demolition of the old bridge. The bridge launch and concrete pours for the deck are complete, and construction of the road embankments to tie in both bridge approaches is underway. Finishing works will continue ahead of the anticipated opening in late-2024.
