Bayswater Station and surrounds will become a key METRONET precinct connecting to the Midland, Airport and Morley-Ellenbrook lines, giving people the choice of travelling to Perth Airport, the Swan Valley tourist region, Perth CBD and beyond.
Once complete, the new Bayswater Station will feature four platforms and two entrances, plus integrated retail outlets, gardens, art and public spaces.
Critical station works and the installation of about 1.8km of new track will be carried out during a 26-day shutdown of the Midland and Airport lines from 31 March, reopening 26 April 2023.
Train replacement bus services will operate during this time.
The infamous Bayswater Bridge will be removed during the shutdown, with works on a new, higher rail bridge underway.
Bayswater Station will close during the shutdown and, when the lines reopen on 26 April, will remain closed until September to allow works to safely continue on the 150m-long elevated southern platform and station area.
A free shuttle bus will operate between Bayswater and Meltham stations from 26 April until Bayswater Station reopens.
Regular passengers of Bayswater Station will be able to apply for a SmartRider that will provide free travel for three months, valid from 31 March 2023. Details regarding eligibility and the application process are available on the Transperth website.
