The closure of the Caledonian Avenue level crossing in April 2022 changes the way traffic moves in the Maylands area.

Funding has been allocated for a variety of road and intersection upgrades to improve traffic flow and safety for road users, pedestrians and cyclists.

New protected bike lanes have been installed on Railway Parade, while a speed reduction to 50km/h on Railway Parade between Grand Promenade and Third Avenue took effect on December 19, 2022.

Works in 2023 are planned to include new traffic signals at the junction of Railway Parade and Whatley Crescent, as well as an interim safety treatment at the Guildford Road-Seventh Avenue intersection.

Visit the Main Roads website for full details on planned works.

Benefits

  • Improved safety for all road users
