Funding has been allocated for a variety of road and intersection upgrades to improve traffic flow and safety for road users, pedestrians and cyclists.

New protected bike lanes have been installed on Railway Parade, while a speed reduction to 50km/h on Railway Parade between Grand Promenade and Third Avenue took effect in late-2022.

The footpath on the bridge will be demolished in preparation for construction on the new traffic lane in late-July 2024.

The existing bridge will be reconfigured to include a new right-turn lane, providing direct access to the Maylands town centre, with traffic signals at the intersection of Railway Parade and Whatley Crescent.

Visit the Main Roads website for full details on planned works.

Benefits

  • Improved safety for all road users
  • Enhanced traffic flow and efficiency
