Upgrades are underway on key roads and intersections in and around Maylands.

A number of works have been completed since the closure of the Caledonian Avenue Level Crossing in early 2022, with additional work planned to support the closure and improve traffic flow and safety for road and shared path users. This includes the installation of new traffic signals at Guildford Road and Seventh Avenue, upgraded traffic signals at Guildford Road and Eighth Avenue and traffic calming on Whatley Crescent.

Upgrades to the Holtham Bridge were completed in early 2025, with a new right-turn lane providing direct access to the Maylands town centre. New protected bike lanes have also been installed on Railway Parade which, supported by a speed reduction, provide a safer journey for shared path users between the Meltham and Maylands Train Stations.

In addition to these road upgrades, a Revitalisation Planning Study was completed to develop the Maylands Masterplan, identifying potential road, path and streetscape upgrades for the Maylands town centre.
