An upgrade to the Kalumburu airstrip has been completed to support safe and reliable aviation access for remote Aboriginal communities in Western Australia's Kimberley region.
The works ensure essential connectivity, including regular flights to Kununurra subsidised by the Australian Government and access for emergency services such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
This project is part of the State Government's Aboriginal Community Airstrip Renewal Program (ACARP), which aims to aims to improve quality of life in remote Aboriginal communities by reducing isolation, increasing safety, and strengthening community resilience, while improving access to services.
