Stage One, completed in May 2023, delivered widened roads between Jurien Bay and Greenhead.

Construction on Stage Two has commenced, between Leeman and Brand Highway. The upgrades include two passing lanes (one northbound and one southbound), 33 kilometres of widening, installation of audible edge lines, installation of safety barriers and realignment of crests and curves.

Benefits

  • Significantly improve road safety
  • Provide safer overtaking opportunities
  • Better transport efficiencies

Detour options

  • Stage Two - Detour - April to November 2024

From mid-April, the section of Indian Ocean Drive between Eneabba-Coolimba Road and Brand Highway will be temporarily closed to through traffic. Access will be retained for local residents, businesses and emergency services.

All road users will be detoured via Eneabba-Coolimba Road and Brand Highway. The detour is expected to add approximately 20 minutes to travel times.
