Staged upgrades are continuing on sections of the Great Eastern Highway to improve road safety and freight efficiency on the vital transport link.

Sections of the upgrades are complete, including road widening and shoulder sealing of 15 kilometres between Stephen Road and west of Noongar South Road in Bodallin and construction of a new westbound rest area between Bodallin and Moorine Rock.

Construction of a two-kilometre eastbound passing lane between Bodallin and Moorine Rock and a various intersection upgrades have also been completed.

Works from Ghooli to Karalee are anticipated to be completed in mid-2027.
