The Albany Airport upgrade work involves improvements to the airport runway, taxiways and aprons to accommodate heavier, more modern and fuel-efficient aircraft.

Works will support flights for residents, businesses and tourists and help grow fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) employment opportunities in Albany. Design of the project will also enable future airport development to support firefighting aircraft.

This project is part of the Regional Airport Pavement Upgrades (RAPU), a State Government commitment to upgrade aircraft pavements at the regional airports of Albany, Carnarvon, East Kimberley (Kununurra), Eucla and Onslow. 

This project is being administered by the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure in partnership with Federal Government and the City of Albany.
