The Department of Transport is upgrading a range of services and amenities at Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour to provide a better experience for harbour users and visitors.

Electrical upgrade

Electrical infrastructure at the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour has not been upgraded since around 1985, in the lead-up to the America's Cup defence.

The electrical upgrade will create a safer network with improved capacity.

Construction is due to begin in 2024.

Jetty replacement

Jetty 3 reached the end of its serviceable life and will be replaced with a modern floating pen system to accommodate 45 new berths.

The jetty replacement project started with the demolition of the jetty in late-2022 and is due for completion in 2023.

Penholder amenities and services upgrade

The land reclamation project in preparation for the construction of the amenities building in the future was completed in September 2023. Additional completed works include pedestrian footpaths, landscaping, lighting, and services.

The completed project has provided convenient access to Capo D’Orlando Drive.

Benefits

  • A safer electrical network with improved capacity and better reliability for tenants
  • A new, modern floating pen system to accommodate 45 berths
  • Improvements to pedestrian amenities and landscaping
